Following the IPL 2023 SRH vs DC match, Doull came down hard on Shaw questioning the batter's fitness after he was dropped for the game.
Cricketer-turned-commentator Simon Doull did not shy away from slamming Prithvi Shaw after the Delhi Capitals opener was dropped from the team in their away encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International on Monday.
While fans were expecting Shaw to come good this season in absence of Prithvi Shaw, it has been a horror run for the youngster in the tournament as he has managed to accumulate just 47 runs in six matches at an average of 7.83. After his string of low scores did not seem to end, he was left out of the Playing 11 and in his absence DC went on to taste their second of the season, beating SRH by 7 runs.

"You can't continue down the same road. If things aren't working, you have to change it up and he has to understand that where he is at in his game. It's just not good enough. There was an incident with the run-out situation in Bangalore with (David) Warner," Doull said during in interaction on Cricbuzz.

"He sat on the backside of the bench the whole time when Delhi were fielding and did nothing and later, when he came out, he was lazy with the running. These little things in the game that come back to haunt you at times. He has had a poor season. I don't think he is overly fit. I don't think he has really adjusted his game as such and he has paid the price," he added.
Despite DC's win though they continue to be at the bottom of the points table with just 2 wins from 7 matches. Meanwhile, SRH also 2 wins from 7 matches but have a better net run rate at -0.725 when compared to DC's -0.961 which is why they placed just above Delhi at the ninth place.
