IPL 2020: Saha Replacing Bairstow Against DC Reaps SRH Rich Dividends As Diminutive Batsman Smashes Game Changing 45-Ball 87
Wriddhiman Saha who came into the Sunrisers Hyderabad playing XI against Delhi Capitals in place of English opener Jonny Bairstow made the most of his opportunities opening the innings by notching up a blistering 87-run knock of just 45 deliveries.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) trounced Delhi Capitals (DC) by massive 88 runs in a round robin encounter of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) played at Dubai on Tuesday and kept their hopes afloat of making it to the all-important playoffs in the marquee T20 league.
SRH's 88-run victory was engineered by the blistering half tons by their skipper David Warner and wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha as the opening duo smashed the DC bowlers to all corners of the park and spearheaded their team's batting efforts by posting a mammoth 220-run total on the board. SRH eventually went onto win the game as their bowlers bowled out Delhi Capitals for 131 runs in 19 overs.

Just playing his second game of the season, Saha provided the pyrotechnics up the order for SRH with skipper and Birthday boy David Warner to rack up 77 runs inside the first 6-over Powerplays. Saha showcased his full repertoire of shot making by smashing the Proteas pace duo of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje to all corners of the park.
Saha's inclusion in place of Jonny Bairstow reaped rich dividends for SRH in a do or die encounter as the wicket-keeper batsman combined brilliantly with skipper Warner to register a ton-plus opening wicket stand and laid the foundation of a massive score for the Orange Army. Even as skipper David Warner fell for a whirlwind 66 off just 34 balls in the tenth over, Saha continued with his brutal assault on the Delhi Capitals bowlers and ensured that his team posted a tectonic 220 run total. The diminutive wicket-keeper batsman went onto notch up his 7th half ton in his IPL career. “I got the opportunity for the second time this year and took my chances in the powerplay. Initially, the ball was holding a bit but I took my chances and went after it after the pitch eased out,” Wriddhiman Saha said at the post-match presentation.
