Samson Not 'Next Dhoni', Should Have Been Part Of Indian Team Since 2015: Sreesanth On His Kerala Teammate

Samson has been on a six hitting spree in the early part of the IPL 2020 notching up whirlwind knocks of 85 (42 balls) against KXIP and 74 (32 deliveries) against CSK to spearhead Rajasthan Royals to stellar wins from the jaws of defeat.

Rajasthan Royals stand atop the points table in the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League on the back of registering back to back wins against Chennai Super Kings and Kings Eleven Punjab.  Rajasthan Royals impressive start to Season 13 has largely come on the back of some sensational strokeplay by their power hitter Sanju Samson and skipper Steve Smith. The explosive right handed batsman Samson has been on a six hitting spree in the early part of the IPL 13, notching up whirlwind knocks of 85 (42 balls) vs KXIP and 74 (32 deliveries) against CSK to spearhead Rajasthan Royals to some stellar wins from the jaws of defeat. The wicket-keeper batsman from Kerala has drawn the applause of millions worldwide for his spectacular power hitting which has seen him hit a whopping sixteen sixes in his two blazing knocks. Congress MP from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor, also took to Twitter to heap praises on Samson, dubbing him as the next Dhoni. Tharoor's comments did not go down too well with Samson's Kerala teammate and former Indian speedster S Sreesanth as he believed that comparing Samson to Dhoni was unjustified as the wicket-keeper batsman should have been part of the Indian team since 2015. “He is not next Dhoni .,he is @IamSanjuSamson the one and only.he should have been playing from 2015 regularly in all formats,” Sreesanth wrote. “pls don’t compare him,if he had given right opportunities then ,he would have been playing like this for india and would have won world cups ..but,” Sreesanth added. Samson who has been knocking on India's door for a long long time but has failed to stake a claim despite being a strong contender to fill in MS Dhoni's shoes seems to have found his hitting zone in this season after producing flashes of brilliance over the past few editions in the IPL. Samson after his match winning performance against CSK, opened up on a frustrating 2019 season in which he blew hot and cold with the willow and did not have a consistent run with the team. “I think I have been hitting it well for the last one year. So I’m in the right frame of mind. I can see a change in my game and my fitness,” Samson told the host broadcaster, Star, after the game.
