Indian Women's Team To Get Full-Fledged, Dedicated Coaching Staff: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah

It is pertinent to note that the Indian Women's team have been without a head coach ever since Ramesh Powar vacated the role in December last year.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would soon be sending out advertisements for the vaious positions in the support staff of the senior women's cricket team. The same was confirmed by secretary Jay Shah in a tweet. The decision to appoint a full-fledged, dedicated coaching staff for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led senior women's side was taken after BCCI's Apex Concil meeting on Sunday.

"CWG Silver medallists, Asia Cup champions and finalists at T20 and ODI World Cups, @BCCIWomen (Senior Women) have put in one impressive performance after another. It is imperative that we have dedicated, full-fledged support staff to drive the team forward," Shah wrote in the first of his two-tweet announcement.

"We will soon issue advertisements for various positions for Team India (Senior Women) support staff. Best coaches will be roped in to help our players realise their full potential and achieve excellence on and off the field," he added.

It is pertinent to note that the Indian Women's team have been without a head coach ever since Ramesh Powar vacated the role in December last year to join the National Cricket Academy (NCA) under VVS Laxman as a spin-bowling coach. NCA's Hrishikesh Kanitkar did join the team as a batting coach.

As things stand, there is no head coach of the Indian women's team and even though Shah has announced that the due process of hiring a new coach will roll out soon, it might take some time to confirm the appointments.
