LIVE: Karthik, Dhoni hold nerve to make it 3-0
India won the toss and elected to field first against Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I at Mumbai
India vs Sri Lanka, 3rd T20I, scorecard
That's it, Dhoni finishes it off with a boundary. India win the match by 5 wickets to take the series 3-0
Match winnings six?
That's deep into stands. WOW Dinesh Karthik you beauty! Pradeep bowls a gentle full toss and that was all Karthik needed to push away all the pressure. It's only 3 off 6 now. Surely, India cannot lose it from here.
15 off 12
India need 15 off the last two now. With Karthik and Dhoni at the crease, India should back themselves to do it. But asthey say, cricket is a funny game.
Wankhede roars as soon as the giant screens show the ball missing the stumps. Dhoni survives a DRS call. India need 20 off 18 now. This is going to the wire.
So near yet so far
Chameera produces the edge but it just evades the outstretched hands of Dickwella to race towards the third-man boundary to give India a welcome boundary. That was close. it was MS Dhoni, the finisher.
BOWLED
Just what the doctor ordered for Sri Lanka. Chameera has got the wicket of Pandey to set the cat amongst the pigeons here. That one beat him for pace and hit the top of middle. India need 28 off 23, but the set batsman has been dismissed.
Pandya departs
What happened there? Pandya just glides it straight into Dickwella's gloves. He is livid with himself and he should be. A shortish delivery around the fifth stump, he has the right idea to play the ramp but gets the toe end of the bat. A simple to catch Dickwella. India lose their fourth. Sri Lanka still hanging in their.
Iyer is run out
That's unfortunate! Pandey hits it staright back to the bowler, Danajaaya gets a hand to deflect it towards the stumps and Iyer was short of his crease. He was backing up a long way, may be because of his struggling hamstring. India still need 54 from 39 here. This is tunring out to be an interesting encounter.
Rohit falls
That's a huge wicket for Sri Lanka. Tries to flick it square but the slowness of the ball doesn't allow him to get the desired timing and he ends up giving a simple catch at deep mid-wicket. India: 39 for 2
Chameera gets Rahul
It's umpire's call. The review doesn't save Rahul. He has to go early in this match. Chameera has backed up his good first over with a superb start to the second. The ball jags back in from lenght, Rahul misses an attempted heave. Umpire puts his finger up and even the replays convey he is right.
Tight from SL
Dananjaya and Chameera have bowled two very good overs right at the start. No lose deliveries whatsoever. Rohit and Rahul have both struggled for timing at times. India 4/0 after 2 overs.
Now over to the Rohit and Rahul show, we could be in for an early finish if these two Indian openers get going like they did two nights ago.
India had yet another good outing with the ball and even the debutant, Washington Sundar, impressed. He was frugal and so was Unadkat. In fact, if you look at all the Indian bowlers, only Siraj had a bad outing.
Good finish
18 off the last over. At last something to smile for the Sri Lankan supporters. They have managed to put up 135 for 7 in 20 overs. A good cameo by Dasun Shanaka. Spare of thought for young Mohammed Siraj, who was the most expensive Indian bowler conceeding 45 runs in his full quota.
Gunaratne falls
Hardik Pandya gets his second of the night. It was short delivery aimed towards Gunaratne's body. He attempts a heave but its a miscue and Kuldeep runs a acorss from mid-wicket to take a good catch. Sri Lanka's last hopes of getting to 140 are going with Gunaratne (36).
Siraj removes SL captain
Perera flicks it straight to the mid-wicket fielder. Boy did Siraj need that. He was getting clobbered to all parts of the ground but the youngster comes back, removes the opposition captain for 11 with a slower one. SL: 84/6
SL 5 down
Kuldeep Yadav joins the party. Catching practice continues. The Sri Lankan batsmen are giving good audition to be fielding coaches. They have now lost half their side for 72
Pandya breaks the partnership
Just as Sri Lanka looked to build a partnership, India strike! Sadeera who was intent to use his feet does it again but does not get close to the pitch off the ball. He still goes through with the shot as he tries to go over mid off but is undone by the bounce. The ball does not hit the middle and lobs towards mid off. Dinesh Karthik there tracks back and takes a neat catch. Sri Lanka lose their 4th inside ten overs and are now staring down the barrel.
Tharanga departs
This just keeps getting better and better for Unadkat. Now he gets Upul Tharanga for 11, another one of his potent slower ones. Sri Lanka in real trouble at 18 for 3.
Sundar gets his 1st T20I wicket
That's what you call a dream debut. Decieves the batsman on flight and holds on to simple return catch. That's the first wicket for Washington Sundar. Kusal Perera, the man who tormented India in Indore is taking the long walk back for 4.
Unadkat strikes early
That's a beautifully disguised slower one from Unadkat. he is on top of his game since he has made a comeback into the Indian side. Decieves Dickwella with a slower one and he top edges it to the mid-on fielder. Sundar makes no mistake and India strike early.
