Tom Curran lost the race against time to get fit for the limited overs series against India. The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed on Tuesday that Curran has been ruled out of the T20I and ODI series against India with a side strain.
Curran, who was already out of the first two matches of the T20I series starting on Tuesday, has been replaced by his younger brother Sam Curran in the ODI squad.
Left-handed middle order batsman Dawid Malan was already called in as a cover for Tom in the T20I squad.
Tom will now go back to The Oval to undergo his rehabilitation which will be supervised by both Surrey and England medical teams.
Tom joins the long list of injured players that includes all-rounders Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes. Stokes, however, will be back for the ODI series against India starting on July 12.
Despite injuries to few of its key players, England have been in staggering form, winning the last of its limited overs fixtures against Australia.
