Ajit Agarkar-led national selection committee will meet in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (April 30) ahead of the India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad announcement on Tuesday (April 30). BCCI Secretary Jay Shah will also be there in Ahmedabad when the selectors meet, confirmed a report by news agency PTI. While the 15-member squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 set to be played in USA and West Indies will be decide on Tuesday, an official announcement is expected on the deadline day which is May 1.

It is pertinent to note that Shah, by virtue of being the BCCI Secretary, is the convener of the senior men's selection committee. However, with Shah busy with his politicial commitments, the meeting is happening Gujarat. The two major talking points of the meeting are set to be the second wicketkeeper's slot and all-rounder Hardik Pandya's place in the side, confirmed a report from the abovementioned news wire service.

KL Rahul Likely To Beat Sanju Samson For Second Keeper's Slot

It is being reported that KL Rahul vs Sanju Samson for the second keeper's slot will be one of the major talking points in the meeting but Rahul is likely to get the final nod. This comes even as Rahul has a run-tally of 378 at a strike rate of 144 in comparison to Samson's 385 at  161. The reason for Rahul's inclusion is no place for Samson in the top 3 which is his preferred batting number. Meanwhile, Rahul has batted in the middle-order in the past.



Rohit Sharma was already confirmed as the captain of the Indian team for the marquee event by Jay Shah while Virat Kohli, in all likelihood, is also set to feature in the side. With no ICC trophy against their name since 2013, India will once again be under massive scrutiny when they fly to USA for the first phase of the global cricket tournament this year.
