India name strong squad for women's Asia Cup T20

Keeping an eye on the World T20 which is scheduled to take place in 2019, India have named a full-strength women’s squad for Asia Cup T20.

The Tournament will be held from June 1 to June 11 in Malaysia and will feature India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand, and host Malaysia will be held from June 1 to 1. Each team will play against the other and the top two teams on the points table will qualify for the final.

Veteran all-rounder Rumeli Dhar has been dropped from the 15-member squad. Dhar had made a comeback to the Indian side after a six-year hiatus during the South Africa tour as a replacement for injured Jhulan Goswami.

Dhar last featured for India in the T20 series against Australia and England, only playing the tournament opener before being dropped for the remaining games.

India women's squad: Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain), Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Mithali Raj, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Anuja Patil, Veda Krishnamurthy, Taniya Bhatia (wicket-keeper), Jhulan Goswami, Pooja Vastrakar, Shikha Pandey, Poonam Yadav, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Ekta Bisht, Mona Meshram.
