Despite Losing Over 2 Days To Rain, RohitBALL Ensures India Beat Bangladesh By 7 Wickets In Kanpur Test; Clinch Series 2-0

IND vs BAN: Despite losing almost half the Test to rain and wet outfield, India's 'play to win' mantra has handed them a 7-wicket win over Bangladesh in the second Test. The hosts bag the series 2-0.

India have beaten Bangladesh. While that result seemed likely when stumps was called on Day 3 without a ball being bowled due to wet outfield and only 35 overs bowled in the match till then, Rohit Sharma & Co. displayed what playing for the team can do. Not only did the hosts first bowl the tourists out for 233 in the first innings when play did resume on a bright and sunnny day in Kanpur but the home team notched up the fastest-ever team 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 enroute to their shortest first innings declaration total.

Team India declared their innings at 285/9, taking a 52-run first innings lead with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring 72 off 51 and KL Rahul making 68 off 43. They had acccumulated those runs by scoring at a scarcely believable 8.22 runs per over. With the ball then, it was a proper team effort with Ravichandan Ashwin with wickets upfront, Ravindra Jadeja to break the partnership in the middle and Jasprit Bumrah towards the death. The three of them picked three wickets apiece with Akash Deep chipping in with a wicket as India dismissed Bangladesh for 146 in their second innings, meaning a 95-run target for the hosts in the final innings of the Kanpur Test.

India Lose Three Wickets In Final Innings But Clinch Series 2-0

India might have lost Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill in the final innings as they took on a similar approach which paid off in the first innings despite time on their hands this time around, they eventually eased through to their target with 7 wickets in hand to win the match and clinch the series 2-0 with Jaiswal falling in touching distance of a win.

India had beaten Bangladesh in the series opener in Chennai. Bangladesh's best moment in the series came on Day 1 of the Chennai Test where theyt had elected to bowl and reduced the home team to 144/6 in the first innings but a fine hundred from Ravinchandran Ashwin had bailed India out of trouble and the Men in Blue never looked back from there.
