Gambhir slams BCCI for allowing Azharuddin to ring bell at Eden Gardens

Gautam Gambhir slammed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on the social media after Azharuddin was invited to ring the bell at the Eden Gardens cricket stadium

Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir is in the spotlight due to his statements again. Gambhir has targeted former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin this time.

The 37–year-old slammed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on the social media after Azharuddin was invited to ring the bell at the Eden Gardens cricket stadium, Kolkata, before the first Twenty20 International (T20I) between India and West Indies.

“India may have won today at Eden but I am sorry @bcci, CoA &CAB lost. Looks like the No Tolerance Policy against Corrupt takes a leave on Sundays! I know he was allowed to contest HCA polls but then this is shocking....The bell is ringing, hope the powers that be are listening,” an angry Gambhir tweeted.

As an Indian cricketer, Azhar has played 99 Tests and334 One-Day Internationals (ODIs). He was struck with a major blow after being charged with fixing international matches for money and was subsequently banned I the year 2000 by the BCCI.

However, earlier this year, BCCI said that Azharuddin was allowed holding any position in the ICC, BCCI or any of its affiliated bodies.
