IND vs WI, 2nd T20I: India Beat Windies By 22 runs (DLS) To Clinch 3-Match Series

Rohit Sharma spearheaded the Indian batting efforts by top scoring with a fluent 67-run knock that was studded with three sixes.

Virat Kohli-led team India defeated the West Indies by 22 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method to win the second T20 international at Lauderhill in Florida and seal the 3-match series. Play was called off due to rain at the venue, with West Indies at 98 for 4 in 15.3 overs, 22 runs behind the par score required by them at the stage of the match. Batting first after skipper Kohli won the toss , India piled up a competitive 167-run total courtesy a breezy half ton by opener Rohit Sharma (67) and some handy contributions by skipper Virat Kohli (28) and Krunal Pandya (20). Rohit spearheaded the Indian batting efforts by top scoring with a fluent 67-run knock that was studded with three sixes. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan got India off to a breezy start before medium pacer Keemo Paul clean bowled Dhawan for 23. Rohit then combined with skipper Virat Kohli to help India post the 100 on board. After Rohit departed, India lost their way a bit with Windies striking in quick succession. Sheldon Cottrell castled Kohli with an absolute ripper and Rishabh Pant was dismissed cheaply by Oshane Thomas. Krunal Pandya then led an onslaught towards the end of the innings by scoring a quick-fire 20. Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with 9 runs off just 4 deliveries. In reply to India's 168-run target, Windies got off to a nightmarish start as Indian bowlers struck early to remove both the Windies openers Sunil Narine and Evin Lewis. Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell then tried to resurrect the innings with Powell going all guns blazing with some lusty hits over the fence. The hard hitting Powell tonked 3 sixes and 6 fours to bring up his half ton. However, Krunal Pandya struck double blows to dismiss both Powell and Pooran and swing the game match in India's favour. With the Windies score at 98/4 in 15.3 overs and Keiron Pollard and Shimron Hetmeyer batting at the crease, rain halted play Pandya finished with figures of 2 for 23 while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Washington Sundar got a wicket each for India. Earlier on Saturday, India took a 1-0 lead in the 3-match T20 series after beating the Windies by four wickets in the opening fixture at Lauderhill in Florida.
