IND vs SA: Dean Elgar Blames Indian Hotels And Food For The Disappointing Tour
Elgar’s remarks didn’t please the Indian fans who lashed out at the cricketer on the social world
The ongoing tour of India hasn’t been much satisfying for the South Africans. They have already lost the first two Tests while some quality Indian batting has triggered their struggle in the third as well. Besides these disappointments, the Proteas aren’t happy with the hospitality they have been receiving in the tour.
Ahead of the Ranchi Test, visiting opener Dean Elgar was asked about the tough tour and in his response, he described it as a “challenging” one, terming the hotels and food “not good”.
“You get to know yourself a lot as a person when you come to the smaller places where the hotels are maybe not as good, and you get challenged on the food you eat potentially,” said Elgar in an interview with ESPN Cricinfo.
“It’s always a good learning curve coming to India. They’re very streetwise and clever with touring teams,” he added.
Elgar’s remarks didn’t please the Indian fans who lashed out at the cricketer on the social world. Some called him a “sore loser” while some recollected the fact that there had been a water crisis in Johannesburg when the Indian team visited South Africa in 2018. Due to this issue, the Indian players were told to not use the shower for more than two minutes.Give them food @BCCI @SGanguly99 , you don't know @deanelgar and SA are not able to win because they are unable to eat "potential" food. Even Indian hotels are testing their limits. This is cheating. They can't see spinning bowl coz of weak eyesight on tour , coz of poor food. :( https://t.co/kfeIiQotKq

Dean Elgar complaining about hotels and food now. This entire team culture is becoming pathetic

Somebody needs to remind @deanelgar that Cape Town hotel rooms gave Indian cricketers only two mins of time to take showers because of extreme water shortage.

So the local curry is partially responsible for the teams debacle ? ;);

This is not the first time that Elgar’s statement to counter their poor stint on Indian soil has drawn flak from the fans. During their previous visit in 2015, the batsman had said that the pitches – especially in Pune – were not fit for cricket to be played.This Guy Deserves A Better Bed To Cry On As Well
