IND vs PAK: India won the toss and elected to bat first in their Asia Cup 2023 opener at the Pallekele International Stadium on Saturday (Sunday). In an innings which saw rain-interruptions, India were jolted early by the Pakistani pace attack led by Shaheen Afridi who removed Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in successive overs. Later, Haris Rauf also joined the party as he got rid of Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill.

However, a century partnership between Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya for the fifth wicket helped India take control of their innings. Both the batters scored their respective half-centuries during the stand.
