Vaibhav Suryavanshi Sets Another Record - This Time With Ball

Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered a standout performance during the first Youth Test and entered the record books—not for his batting, but for his bowling.

In the first Youth Test match being played between India and England Under-19 teams, Indian youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made history once again.

This time, however, the record didn't come with the bat but with the ball. After impressing with the bat in the ODI series, Vaibhav has now done something remarkable with the ball that has fans and experts applauding him across the board. Let us take a look at this special feat.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s New Bowling Record

Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered a standout performance during the first Youth Test and entered the record books—not for his batting, but for his bowling.

The left-arm orthodox spinner bowled a low full toss on the last delivery of the 45th over, which batter Sheikh tried to loft over long-off. However, Henil Patel took a stunning catch, and Suryavanshi bagged his first-ever Youth Test wicket.

With this, Vaibhav became the youngest Indian cricketer to take a wicket in Youth Test history.

Previously, this record belonged to Manishi, who dismissed South Africa’s Marco Johnson back in 2019. On the international front, the world record is held by Pakistan’s Mahmood Malik, who took a wicket against New Zealand in 1994 at just 13 years and 241 days old.

Vaibhav’s Bat Falls Short in First Innings

Despite his bowling success, Vaibhav couldn’t make much of an impact with the bat in the first innings. He scored 14 runs off 13 balls, hitting 3 boundaries before getting dismissed. Fans are hopeful he will deliver a more impactful performance with the bat in the second innings.

India Takes the Lead

India batted first and put up a massive total of 540 runs, led by captain Ayush Mhatre, who scored a brilliant 102. In reply, England stood at 230/5, trailing significantly.

ODI Series Recap: Vaibhav the Star Performer

Before this Test match, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was in red-hot form during the Under-19 ODI series against England. He emerged as the highest run-scorer, amassing 355 runs in 5 matches with an outstanding strike rate of 174 and an average of 71, proving his worth as a future star of Indian cricket.
