According to reports, Shubman Gill is currently the front-runner for the captaincy, as selectors are keen to invest in a long-term option. Jasprit Bumrah is also in contention, but his history of injuries might work against his chances.
Meanwhile, experienced names like KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are also under consideration, though they are more likely to play support roles in the leadership group.
Who will replace Rohit and Kohli in the XI?
With two batting stalwarts gone, the team management faces a big challenge in rebuilding the top and middle order. Young talents like Abhimanyu Easwaran, Sai Sudharsan, and Sarfaraz Khan are likely to be rewarded for their consistent performances.
