IND vs ENG: Ravindra Jadeja Creates History In WTC, Achieves Record No One Else Has

Jadeja has now become the first player in WTC history to score over 2000 runs and take 100 wickets.

India's star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is once again making headlines — this time for a record-breaking performance during the second Test against England at Edgbaston.

Jadeja's brilliant knock of 89 runs in the first innings not only helped push India into a commanding position but also secured him a unique milestone in World Test Championship (WTC) history.

Jadeja has now become the first player in WTC history to score over 2000 runs and take 100 wickets.

Having already reached the 100-wicket mark earlier, Jadeja completed the double during his gritty innings at Edgbaston, making him the only cricketer to achieve this feat since the WTC's inception.

Consistent Performer in WTC

Jadeja has featured in 41 Test matches across WTC cycles, amassing 2010 runs, including 3 centuries and 13 half-centuries. In the ongoing Test, his 89-run innings came off 137 balls, featuring 10 boundaries and 1 six. He also stitched together a crucial 203-run partnership with skipper Shubman Gill, which proved vital in building India’s strong total.

Match Situation at Edgbaston

By the lunch break on Day 2, Team India stood tall at 419 for 6 in 110 overs. Captain Shubman Gill continued his brilliant form, remaining unbeaten on 168 off 288 deliveries, decorated with 18 fours and a six. Washington Sundar joined him at the crease following Ravindra Jadeja’s dismissal.

Earlier, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a solid start with a fluent 87-run knock. For England, Chris Woakes claimed two wickets, while all other bowlers except Joe Root picked up one each.

With this innings, Ravindra Jadeja has not only helped India gain the upper hand in the match but has also etched his name in the record books as one of the most impactful players in the WTC era.
