IND vs ENG Toss Update: India Bat First In Edgbaston Test; No Jasprit Bumrah

India are yet to win a Test match at Edgbaston, having failed in eight previous attempts (1 draw, 7 losses).

IND vs ENG 2nd Test Playing XIs: After facing defeat in the first Test, Team India will be eager to level the series in the crucial Edgbaston encounter. Meanwhile, England will aim to capitalise on their momentum and push for a commanding 2-0 lead.

India's batting unit showed impressive form in the opening match, with five players notching up centuries. The batters will look to carry that rhythm into the second Test. On the other hand, England will leave no stone unturned to maintain their dominance.

India’s young squad is hungry to script history at Edgbaston, while England has suffered a blow with seasoned pacer Jofra Archer missing the match due to a family emergency. Chris Woakes has been drafted in to lead the pace attack in his absence.

India are yet to win a Test match at Edgbaston, having failed in eight previous attempts (1 draw, 7 losses). Interestingly, England—despite Edgbaston being considered their fortress—have lost three of their last five Tests at this venue.

What captains said...

Shubman Gill: Would've bowled first as well. If there's anything in the wicket, it's in the first day. Three changes - Reddy, Washi and Akash Deep come in. No Bumrah. Just to manage his workload. Third Test being at Lord's, we think there'll be more in that pitch so we'll use him there. We were tempted to play Kuldeep but decided to add some depth to the batting.

Ben Stokes: We're going to bowl. Overhead conditions favour it. Very good team performance last week, we're confident. You understand the conditions better as you go deeper into the Test. Brains and me and Baz are not three things you put together. Great run chase, great start to the series.
