IND vs BAN,1st T20I: Washington-Krunal Late Hits Help India Post 148/6 Vs B'desh

The duo of Wasghington Sundar and Krunal Pandya garnered some crucial runs in the final overs to help team India attain a respectable total after 20 overs

India finished off their first innings in style, courtesy late blows from Washington Sundar and Krunal Pandya to give team India a competitive total of 148/6 to defend against the Bangla Tigers in the first T20I at Delhi. The two dashing Indian openers - Dhawan and Rohit started the proceedings for team India. Shikhar Dhawan, who had a fantastic record in white ball cricket  was in the form of his life as he had done well in the domestic circuit. Playing his 99th T20I match, Rohit was off the mark by hitting a four in the very first over. With another scintillating boundary in the same over, Hitman Sharma surpassed Virat Kohli to become the leading run-getter in T20Is. However, fiery Rohit was adjudged lbw after Shafiul's delivery went past his defence to send him back to the pavilion for 9 off 5 balls. It was a positive start for Bangladesh as they got an early wicket in form of stand in skipper Rohit, but Rahul and Dhawan displayed some beautiful footwork and played some great shots - stealing some boundaries - to keep the scoreboard ticking. Team India lost its second wicket in form of KL Rahul (15 off 17 balls) who was caught at the covers off Mahmudullah's delivery. With India struggling to get the momentum, next to the crease came Shreyas Iyer who announced himself by ends the over with a huge six in the 7th over. India were 69/2 at the halfway mark with Iyer getting a move on and looking to add some crucial runs in the final 10 overs. However, Iyer (22 off 13 balls), who was doing so well, got caught trying to go for another biggie off Aminul Islam's delivery. With India at 70/3 after 10.2 overs and three wickets down, in came Rishabh Pant to the rescue. Batting on the other end, well-settled local lad Dhawan (41 off 42 balls) had to walk back to the pavilion after miscommunication between Dhawan and Pant resulted in a run-out. Pant brought up 100 for India by hitting his first boundary of the match in the 16th over. Next to the crease was debutant Shivam Dube who failed to deliver in his maiden T20 appearance for team India. The 26-year-old was caught & bowled for just 1 run off Afif's beauty. Two left-handers - Rishabh Pant and Krunal Pandya - were in the middle with the final three overs to go. Shafiul got his second wicket in form of Pant (27). The wicket-keeper batsman tried to go for a big hit but perished in the process. The duo of Wasghington Sundar and Krunal Pandya garnered some crucial runs in the final overs to help team India attain a respectable total after 20 overs.
