IND vs AUS: Usman Khawaja recovering from injury, likely to play 1st Test
Khawaja is expected to take part in a few net sessions in the coming week and could also feature in Queensland's Sheffield Shield game against Victoria
Australia have received a huge respite ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, slated to begin from December 6. Opener Usman Khawaja is expected to get fit and join the team back for the first Test in Adelaide.
The 31-year-old suffered a knee injury during the tour of UAE. He sustained a meniscal tear during a training session in the second Test of the two-match series versus Pakistan in UAE. Subsequently, he had to undergo a surgery to repair the damage
But now he is expected to take part in a few net sessions in the coming week and could also feature in Queensland's Sheffield Shield game against Victoria. Speaking about his recovery, Khawaja said, “It's going pretty well so far, just over two weeks, ran at 100 per cent yesterday on the treadmill, hopefully, run outside tomorrow, so progressing well so far.”
There are chances that he may feature in the practice match between India XI and Cricket Australia XI at the SCG, commencing on November 29.
