IND vs AUS: Sourav Ganguly gives mantra to tackle Nathan Lyon

Be it Adelaide or Perth, Nathan Lyon treated the Indians equally, scalping total of 16 wickets so far

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has chalked out a masterplan which would help Virat Kohli & Co restricting Australia’s danger spinner – Nathan Lyon. Be it Adelaide or Perth, the veteran off-spinner treated the Indians equally, scalping total of 16 wickets so far. But now the former Indian skipper has come up with an idea which can overpower Lyon’s turns in the rest of the two Test matches.

Ganguly opined that the Indian batters have shown too much respect to the off-spinner by defending his deliveries outside the off-stump.

“I had thought of sending a text to Kohli but I haven't done it yet. I wanted to tell him that you shouldn't give so many wickets to spinners outside the subcontinent. There is no doubt that Nathan Lyon is a great spinner but so was Shane Warne, Muttiah Muralitharan and Graeme Swann,” Ganguly said.

“They have shown him (Nathan Lyon) too much respect by defending a lot of deliveries outside the off-stump. Instead, I feel they should attack him more and look to build towards at least a total in excess of 300-350,” the 46-year-old added.

In 82 Tests played so far in his career, Lyon has picked 334 wickets at an average of 31.60 in the longest format of the game.

After finding the equalizer in Perth, Australia will host India for the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, slated to begin from December 26. The final Test will be played in Sydney, starting from January 2, 2019.
