IND vs AUS: Footage Of Ravindra Jadeja Putting Suspicious Material On Spinning Finger Goes Viral, Report Claims It To Be ‘Ointment’

Former Australian skipper Tim Paine termed the video “interesting” while ex-England captain Vaughan questioned what was it that Jadeja was applying on his finger.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is a more than the on-field cricketing battle. It's about the mind game and war of words between the cricketing communities of both the countries. Even the Australian media is known to back their boys and put pressure on the opposition. Give them the slightest chance to complain and they will make a mountain of it.

And when a video doing the rounds on social media caught Jadeja putting a suspicious material on his spinning finger went viral, it was clear that the Australian media won't let the matter die down quickly even when match refere and the on-field umpires have not reported anything wrong or unfair so far.

Notably, in a video which went viral on social media Mohammed Siraj was apparently giving something to Jadeja who applied it on his index finger before going on to bowl. The video caught the attention of ex-Australia captain Tim Paine who called it "interesting" while former England skipper Michael Vaughan questioned what was it.

A fresh report by Indian Express claims that it was an ‘ointment for callused finger.’ It suggests that it is allowed as per the ICC Playing Conditions. While batters are given the liberty to use creams between overs, bowlers especially finger spinners like Jadeja, who make a return to cricket after a period away from the game, may develop difficulty and to avoid cracks, they can use the cream.

“What do you think of this @tdpaine36 Looks like one player giving grippo to the bowler and him rubbing it all over his spinning finger to me. Thoughts?” wrote a Twitter user along with the video to which Paine responded "Interesting."

Vaughan, meanwhile, shared a Fox Cricket Report on the incident and wrote: "What is it he is putting on his spinning finger ? Never ever seen this …"

Jadeja completed his 11th five-wicket haul in the first Test of the four-match series at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Thursday. Thanks to his spell of 5/47, India have managed to bowl the visitors out for 177 in the first innings. In response, India are 77/1 at Stumps on Day 1.
