In Pics | Ind vs Aus, 2nd ODI: Steve Smith Notches Up Second Straight Ton Against India

Smith's second straight ODI century was his fifth ton against India and eleventh overall in one day international cricket. He is now the second highest ton maker behind Ricky Ponting (6) for Australia against India in ODIs.

Australian batting mainstay Steve Smith achieved a record of sorts against India as he notched up his second successive one day international ton against the 'Men in Blue' in the 2nd ODI being played at the SCG. Smith's blistering 62-ball ton was the icing on the cake in Australia's power packed all-round performance which saw the hosts setting a massive 390-run target for 'Men In Blue'. Smith began from where he left in the opening encounter at the SCG, getting to his whirlwind ton in the same number of deliveries (62) as he did to reach the tripe figure mark in the first ODI. Smith's ton was also the third joint fastest ODI century (62 balls) by an Australian batsman. Glenn Maxwell (51 balls) and James Faulkner (57 balls) lead the list for the fastest tons for Australia in ODIs. Once he got his eye in, Smith stepped on the acceleration peddle by scoring boundaries with his unconventional strokeplay. The right handed strokemaker stitched breezy partnerships with David Warner and Marcus Labuschagne to anchor the innings in the middle order and lay a very strong foundation for his team.
