ICC may consider relocating the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 tournament to a country in the same time zone as Bangladesh.
The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to be held in Dhaka and Sylhet, Bangladesh, with 23 matches planned over 18 days from October 3 to October 20. However, due to the ongoing political turmoil in the country, staging the tournament is becoming challenging.
An interim government assumed power in Bangladesh on August 5 after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country amid violent protests, which resulted in over 100 casualties.

ICC may consider relocating the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 tournament to a country in the same time zone as Bangladesh.
"The ICC is closely monitoring developments in coordination with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), their security agencies and our own independent security consultants. Our priority is the safety and well-being of all participants," an ICC spokesperson quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Within next seven days, ICC is expected to make a decision.
"All places with favorable weather will be in the mix if it becomes clear that we can't play in Bangladesh. That may or may not be the case," said an ICC member in the know of the developments.

Australia travelled to Sri Lanka for bilateral series amid political turmoil
In March 2022, Sri Lanka experienced unrest when protesters stormed the official residence of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa over issues of corruption and inflation. Despite the turmoil, the Australian cricket team traveled to Sri Lanka for a bilateral series in June.
India and Sri Lanka possible venues for Women's T20 World Cup 2024
The ICC has contingency plans for unforeseen situations, and Sri Lanka or India could be considered as alternative venues if the apex board decides to shift the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 tournament from Bangladesh to a different location.
