ICC Women's ODI Ranking: Smriti Mandhana Loses Top Spot To New Zealand's Amy Satterthwaite
Mandhana had suffered a fracture in her right toe during a practice session before the start of the ODI series against the Proteas which India won 3-0
Indian opener Smriti Mandhana has lost her top spot in the latest ICC ODI rankings for women batters on Tuesday. Mandhana, who was ruled out of South Africa ODIs, has been replaced by New Zealand's Amy Satterthwaite at the top of the rankings.
South Africa Laura Wolvaardt is another player who gained in the latest rankings update. Wolvaardt, who smashed 131 runs in three ODI games against India, was the mainstay in the Proteas batting line up. The right-handed batter has moved up six places to take the eighth spot in the ODI ranking.
The 23-year-old batter had suffered a fracture in her right toe during a practice session before the start of the ODI series against the Proteas which India won 3-0.
Skipper Mithali Raj has also moved down to the seventh spot. Raj recently became the first woman cricketer to complete 20 years in international cricket.
In the bowlers' rankings, Jhulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey and Poonam Yadav have also moved down to 6th, 8th and 9th positions respectively.
Two South African bowlers who moved up in the ODI rankings are right-arm fast-medium Shabnim Ismail and Marizanne Kapp.
Ismail is at the seventh spot with a move of one place while Kapp moved two places and finished as the fifth-ranked. The 29-year cricketer also moved up six positions to number two in the latest ICC Women's rankings for all-rounders.
In the list of all-rounders, Deepti Sharma has moved down to the third spot while Shikha Pandey has entered the top 10.
