Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya Among Six Names In Indians-Heavy ICC T20 WC Team Of The Tournament

Six Indian players, including skipper Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and pacer Jasprit Bumrah have been included in the ICC's T20 World Cup 2024 Team of the Tournament.

ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 Team Of The Tournament: India won the T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating South Africa in the final of the marquee tournament and got their hands on a World Cup trophy after 13 long years. Remarkably, India, led by Rohit Sharma, remained unbeaten throughout the tournament as they won their second T20 World Cup. As a result of India’s excellent T20 World Cup campaign, as many as six Indian players have made it to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Team of the Tournament, including skipper Rohit, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah.

Runs: 281, Average: 35.12, Strike-rate: 124.33, Fifties: 3

Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a pivotal role for Afghanistan, scoring 281 runs at an average of 35.12 and a strike rate of 124.33. Forming a formidable opening partnership, he and Ibrahim Zadran contributed significantly to Afghanistan's journey to the semi-finals, including three century stands. 

Nicholas Pooran

West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran showcased his prowess as one of the top batters in T20 cricket, scoring 228 runs at a strike rate of 146.15 for the West Indies. 

Suryakumar Yadav

Runs: 199, Average: 28.42, Strike-rate: 135.37, Fifties: 2

Suryakumar Yadav contributed effectively in the middle-order for India, scoring 199 runs at a strike rate of 135.37. His impactful performances included crucial knocks in the knockout stages, notably a vital 47 in the semi-final against England.

Marcus Stoinis

Runs: 169, Strike-rate: 164.07, Wickets: 10, Economy: 8.88

Marcus Stoinis emerged as Australia's standout player with 169 runs at a strike rate of 164.07 and 10 wickets in the tournament. 

Hardik Pandya

Runs: 144, Strike-rate: 151.57, Wickets: 11, Economy: 7.64

Hardik Pandya played crucial cameos with both bat and ball for India, scoring 144 runs at a strike rate of 151.57 and taking 11 wickets. His decisive performance in the final, including a pivotal wicket and a crucial final over, played a significant role in India's title victory.

Axar Patel

Runs: 92, Strike-rate: 139.39, Wickets: 9, Economy: 7.86

Axar Patel's versatility was crucial for India, contributing with both bat and ball. His highlight was a counter-attacking 47 in the final and a Player of the Match performance in the semi-final against England, where he took 3/23.

Rashid Khan

12th man: Anrich Nortje
