Talking about the match, India were asked to bat first and made the most of their opportunity. While openers Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma scored brisk half-centuries to give India a great start, both KL Rahul and Virat Kohli then scored hundreds in their double hundred stand as India finishes with 356/2. While this was Rahul's sixth hundred in this format of the game, Kohli smashed his 47th ton in an innings which saw him become the fastest man to get to the 13,000 ODI runs.
Moreover, Kohli also broke Tendulkar's century record against Pakistan. Once set, Kohli looked in complete control and smashed a six to finish off the innings which helped India take the momentum into the second innings. Pakistan are 44/2 in 11 overs before rain returned and covers had to be brought on. While Jasprit Bumrah, making his ODI comeback as well, removed Imam-ul-Haq, Hardik Pandya got rid of Babar Azam with an indipper.
