Former Zimbabwe Cricketer Heath Streak Passes Away At 49

Heath Streak’s wife, Nadine, took to social media to write a heartfelt message in memory of her husband.

Heath Streak death: Former Zimbabwe cricketer Heath Streak, who had been undergoing treatment for cancer in South Africa, passed away at the age of 49 in the early hours of September 3. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by his family members this time. Recently, false rumours of the legendary all-rounder's death circulated on social media.

Heath Streak’s wife, Nadine, took to social media to write a heartfelt message in memory of her husband.

"In the early hours of this morning, Sunday, September 3rd, 2023, the greatest love of my life and the father of my beautiful children, was carried to be with the angels from his home, where he wished to spend his last days surrounded by his family and closest loved ones. He was covered in love and peace and did not walk off the park alone. Our souls are joined for eternity, Streaky. Till I hold you again," Nadine Streak wrote on Facebook.

Last month in August, hours after the former Zimbabwe captain was deemed to have died, it was later confirmed that he was 'well and alive'. Several fans and cricketers, who mourned the rumored demise of the Zimbabwean great, later issued a heartfelt apology to Streak.

Streak, widely regarded as one of finest all-rounders of all time, appeared for his national team Zimbabwe in 189 ODIs and 65 Tests, collecting 455 wickets and scoring 4933 runs across the two formats in a career spanning over a decade. The veteran was part of Zimbabwe’s golden generation of players between 1997 to 2002. He was the first cricketer from Zimbabwe to score 2000 runs and take 2000 wickets in ODIs and score 1000 runs and take 100 wickets in Tests.

In ODIs, Streak picked 239 wickets at an average of 29.82. The Zimbabwaen scored 1,990 runs (1 century, 11 half-centuries) in Tests while 2,943 runs (13 half-centuries) in ODIs. In Tests, he bagged a 4-wicket haul in an innings, 16 times, and 5-wicket haul in an innings, 7 times.
