India’s T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur hit a four and six in the last over to clinch a nail-biter for Lancashire Thunder on her KSL debut at Lord’s. This was Lancashire’s third successive victory, taking them to the second spot in the league standings after four matches.

Harmanpreet, who landed in England barely 24 hours before the start of the match due to visa issues displayed icy cool nerves in the dying stages of the game to help her side emerge on top.

Needing 11 runs in the last over, Lancashire were on the brink of losing Ellie Threlkeld through a misunderstanding but that put Harmanpreet back on strike. The right-hander then hit hammered Laura Marsh straight over the head to bring the equation down to 4 off 2. The next delivery was heaved over the deep mid-wicket boundary and into the stands to finish off the game.

Harmanpreet remained unbeaten on 34 off 21 balls that included three fours and a match-winning six.

The chase was possible because of a terrific inning by Australian opener Nicole Bolton, who smashed an 87 off 61 balls. Bolton and Harmanpreet put on a 68-run third wicket stand that kept them on course.

Earlier, Surrey Stars, the side Harmanpreet was slated to represent in the last edition of KSL, put on 148 for five riding on Natalie Sciver’s 95 off 57 balls.

These stats will prove Virat Kohli will be successful this time in England
