Masakadza termed his decision to bid farewell to the game as a hard one, but added that after Zimbabwe could not participate in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifiers due to its suspension by the International Cricket Council, it was a rational decision.

Zimbabwe cricketer Hamilton Masakadza has announced that he will be retiring from all forms of international cricket after the T20I tri-series in Bangladesh. Masakadza termed his decision to bid farewell to the game as a hard one, but added that after Zimbabwe could not participate in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifiers due to its suspension by the International Cricket Council, it was a rational decision. Masakadza added that it was time to give an opportunity to youngsters in the national team but hopes to contribute to his nation's cricket post retirement. Masakadza rated his debut ton against the West Indies as the finest knock of his career and the away Test win against Bangladesh as the most notable achievement of his career. In 38 Test matches for Zimbabwe, Masakadza amassed 2222 runs at a decent average of 30.33. He scored 5 tons and registered 8 half centuries. Hamilton Masakadza became the youngest Zimababwean to score a century on Test debut. At the age of 17 years and 254 days, Hamilton scored a brilliant 119 against the West Indies in Bulawayo in 2000-01. His knock helped Zimbabwe draw a Test match and he was looked upon as one for the future.
