England coach Bayliss to skip T20 series against Australia and India, Farbace to take charge

England’s assistant coach Paul Farbace will take over the top job against India and Australia in the T20 series in the absence of head coach Trevor Bayliss.

55-year-old Bayliss will be on leave to witness the tri-series played amongst India A, England Lions and West Indies A. He will also attend the Royal London One Day Cup’s match between Hampshire and Kent at Lord’s on June 30. Bayliss will back for the ODI series against India which will start from July 12.

Bayliss has always been criticized for not paying enough attention to County cricket which, through his leave, he will have enough time to pay attention to. This will be a good opportunity for the Coach to look for fresh talents given the World Cup is just a year away.

50-year-old Farbrace is highly in demand by the Bangladesh management to be their head coach but he is the most likely candidate to take over the English team as head coach after Bayliss completes his contract next year. Farbrace accepted that an offer to be the England’s head coach will be hard to reject.

Bayliss, earlier this year, suggested the ECB to have different coaches for different formats of the game and this might just be the right opportunity for the ECB to try it out with the players.

This tactic seems to be the need of the hour as Bayliss himself suggested to appoint a specialized coach for the T20 format since England’s performance in T20s is below par. This will help them to prepare for the next T20 World Cup
