New Delhi: India women take on Australia on Thursday with an aim to secure a spot in the final of ICC Women’s World Cup and subsequently end 12-year-drought.

The India eves will also have a chance to avenge their defeat in 2005 World Cup finals against the same opposition.

Mithali Raj’s girls are up against tough competitors, who have won whopping 6 World Cup titles out of 10 played and also maintain a strong record against India. The Southern Stars have won 3 out of 4 matches played after the last edition of the tournament, with 8-wicket victory in the current edition being the latest.

However, India will have a ‘home advantage’, having played four matches on the county ground in Derby and emerging victorious in all four occasions.

India’s best bet against the defending champions will be Mithali Raj , who was displayed fine form through-out the tournament and also became to first woman to cross 6,000 runs mark in ODI history in the process.

If India mange to upstage Australia in the semi final on Thursday, then it will be their second appearance in the finals of the elite competition and will face hosts England the tournament decider at the Lord’s on July 23.
