Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Season 2024 featured two exciting games at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on February 18 (Saturday). In the 35th match, Fortune Barisal emerged victorious by 18 runs against Sylhet Strikers. Meanwhile, in the 36th match of the BPL 2024, Chattogram Challengers secured a hard-fought 10-run win over Durdanto Dhaka.

In the first match of the day, Fortune Barisal posted a challenging total of 183-6 while batting first. Mushfiqur Rahim played a crucial role with a quick-fire 32-ball 52, and Kyle Mayers contributed significantly with 48 runs. Despite a valiant effort from Benny Howell (53) and Ariful Haque (57), who both scored half-centuries, the Sylhet Strikers could only reach 165-8, falling short of the target.

In the second game of the day, Chattogram Challengers set a target of 159-6, with Tanzid Hasan scoring 70 and Tom Bruce adding 48 runs to help them recover from early setbacks. Dhaka, in their pursuit, managed to reach 149-5. Despite Alex Ross's commendable 55 and Mosaddek Hossain's unbeaten 30, they lacked support from other batsmen.

Securing the victory propelled the Challengers into the top four, currently holding the fourth position in the table with 12 points and a net run rate of -0.757. However, their playoff spot is still pending confirmation. On the contrary, Dhaka faced a challenging streak, losing 11 consecutive matches and concluding at the bottom of the table with a mere two points and a net run rate of -1.420.

Fortune Barisal currently hold the third position in the table with 12 points and a net run rate of +0.518, courtesy of winning six out of ten matches in the tournament.
