Bengaluru Weather Today: How Can 'Orange Alert' Spoil India's WTC Final Plan By Affecting New Zealand Test

Bengaluru Weather Today: 'Orange Alert' has been issued by the Indian Meterological Department (IMD) with the city likely to receive heavy rainfall. It can spoil India's WTC Final plan In NZ Test.

Bengaluru Weather Today: India are all set to lock horns in the 1st Test of the three-match series against New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, it isn't particularly good news for Team India and their fans ahead of the series opener in the Karnataka capital. The city is receiving heavy rain and orangle alert has been issued by the Indian Meterological Department (IMD).

While the Karnataka government has already declared a holiday for schools on Wednesday (October 16), even the tech companies have all advised employees to work from home. But cricket cannot be played inside the confines of a room and hence the opening few days of the Test are in danger of being washed out or seeing very few overs being bowled. However, India might not particularly be pleased with the weather forecast as they don't want to settle for a draw.

India Eyeying Third Successive WTC Final

Notably, every match and points on offer is important for Team India if they are to play their third successive ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final. This was the same reason why despite losing over two days to rain and bad light in Kanpur, India played an ultra-aggresive brand of cricket against Bangladesh to go for the win and ultimately get the desired result with a session and a half remaining on Day 5.

Even a draw would mean dropping points for India. Given their impeccable record at home, the Men in Blue are eyeing for nothing but the win especially in home conditions. They might also be aware that the Australia tour won't be an easy one where India are scheduled to play five Test matches and hence they need to get as many points as possible before their Tour Down Under to give themselves a best chance of playing the WTC Final Next year.

The only major positive is that the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has one of the best drainage systems in the world and if there is any possibility of play, the groundstaff will make sure that cricket action gets up and running.
