BCCI Releases Media Rights Tender For Team India's International And Domestic Matches

The previous media rights deal ended in March 2023, which was bought by Disney Star for a total of Rs 6138.10 crores, in which the cost of each international match was Rs 61 crores.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday issued a tender for media rights for Team India's bilateral cricket series (at home and abroad), inviting bids. The apex cricket board India has invited bids from applicants for both domestic and international cricket media rights. Apart from this, BCCI issued a tender ITT (Invitation to Tender) for a detailed information related to media rights as the applicants who want to collect information related to the tender can buy this tender from the board by paying a non-refundable fee of Rs 15 lakh plus any Goods and Services Tax applicable. The ITT is available for purchase till August 25, 2023.

"The detailed terms and conditions governing the tender process including eligibility requirements, process for submissions of bids, rights and obligations, etc. are contained in the 'Invitation to Tender ("ITT") which will be made available on receipt of payment of a non-refundable fee of INR 15,00,000 (Indian Rupees Fifteen Lakh Only) plus any applicable Goods and Services Tax. The procedure to procure the ITT documents is enlisted in Annexure A to this notice," the BCCI said in a media release.

"Any interested party wishing to submit a bid is required to purchase the ITT. However, only those satisfying the eligibility criteria set out in the ITT and subject to the other terms and conditions set out therein, shall be eligible to bid. It is clarified that merely purchasing the ITT does not entitle any person to bid," the release further stated.

The previous media rights deal ended in March 2023, which was bought by Disney Star for a total of Rs 6138.10 crores, in which the cost of each international match was Rs 61 crores. It is being speculated that this time the price of bids may go higher. As per media reports, Viacom 18 Group seems to be the frontrunners in the race of acquring team India's media rights for domestic and intenational matches.
