BCCI Might Shift National Camp From Bengaluru to Dharamshala Amid Covid Crisis
The BCCI has been revising the venues for the upcoming matches and tournaments and in view of that, the Board is looking to shift the national training camp to a safer zone.
New Delhi: The increasing number of infected cases due to Coronavirus has become worrisome for everyone and this has urged the BCCI to shuffle their plans and schedules for the Indian National Cricket team. The BCCI has been revising the venues for the upcoming matches and tournaments and in view of that, the Board is looking to shift the national training camp from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to Dharamshala.
The central government had suspended international and domestic flights in India for more than a month to curb the spread of the virus. But during the current phase of the lockdown, the civil aviation ministry announced that domestic flights would begin to operate from the 25th of May.
Hence, treasurer Arun Dhumal has considered exploring safe zones to hold the national camp.
Dhumal said that being his state association, he wouldn’t stress it; however, if BCCI thinks it’s the way to go, he’ll be glad to offer it and make necessary arrangements. He also that if the Government provides clearance, the association will do everything its power to make it safe from the outbreak.
Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh has emerged as one of the safe zones and there are 168 coronavirus infected cases in the state. The last match in Dharamshala had to be played as a three-game series between India and South Africa in March. The first game was washed out due to rain and the series was suspended because of the Coronavirus outbreak.
