BCCI Invites Applications For India Women’s Bowling And Fielding Coaches

Amol Muzumdar is the frontrunner to be the head coach of the women's team, no official confirmation on his appointment as come from the Board as yet.

Even as the position of the head coach still remains unoccupied, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for India Women's teams bowling and fielding coaches. While former India spinner Nooshin Al Khadeer did fill in as the team's interim coach during their series against Bangladesh last month, a full-time coach remains absent from the women's team setup.

As per the release shared by the Indian cricket board, whoever is chosen for the vacant positions in the support staff of the Indian women's team will hold them for a period of two years and will report directly to the head coach. It is mandatory for those applying for the role to have represented at the highest level or any other nation for that matter at the ultimate level in world cricket. If this criteria isn't met then they should have minimum NCA Level ‘B’ certified coach or a similar certification from a reputed organisation/Institute and at least 30 first-class games under his/her belt.

"Or, should have the experience of coaching an international team for a period of minimum 1 season or a T20 franchise / state team for a minimum of two seasons," BCCI's statement said.

While there were several reports including the one carried by PTI which suggested that Amol Muzumdar is the frontrunner to be the head coach of the women's team, no official confirmation on his appointment as come from the Board as yet.

The Board is seeking a candidate who possesses an in-depth knowledge of the game, along with either playing or coaching experience at the highest level. Additionally, they should have prior involvement with a multi-cultural team. Interested individuals must submit their applications before 6 pm on August 10.

The Asian Games and home series against England are the Indian women's team's forthcoming assignments and the Board is looking to make these appointments before that and have a full-fledged coaching staff in place until the 2025 World Cup at home.
