Bangladesh To Host Asia XI vs World XI in Mar 2020 To Mark Mujibur Rahman’s Birth Centenary

Both the T20I matches between Asia XI and World XI are scheduled to be hosted at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh between March 18 and 21, 2020.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Thursday that it will be hosting two T20I matches between Asia XI and World XI to celebrate the birth centenary of Bangladesh’s founding father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Shiekh Mujibur Rahman was also the first president and second prime minister of the sub continent nation – who was assassinated in August 1975. BCB president Nazmul Hossain Papon has vouched to rope in the best set of international cricketers to make this historic clash a moment to savour. The BCB president also informed that both the matches have been given international status during last week’s ICC meeting. Both the T20I matches between Asia XI and World XI are scheduled to be hosted at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh between March 18 and 21, 2020. Various cricket boards around the world have organised events to celebrate special occasions. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) had organised the much-talked-about Hero Cup featuring five countries in 1993 to mark its diamond jubilee. Whereas in 1994-15, a four-nation tournament was organised by New Zealand to celebrate the centenary of the cricket board. In 2017, Pakistan played three T20Is against World XI in Lahore to promote the return of international cricket in their home country.
