Australia trounced Sri Lanka by 134 runs to win the 3-match T20I series opener at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday. Batting first, the Aussies set up a whopping 233-run total riding high on a whirlwind ton by David Warner and half tons by skipper Aaron Finch and Glen Maxwell. Warner notched up his maiden T20 international ton for Australia with a stellar demonstration of attacking stroke-play. Skipper Aaron Finch and hard hitting batsman Glen Maxwell chipped in with breezy half centuries. Chasing a daunting 234-run target, Sri Lanka got off to the worst possible start as they lost both openers in quick succession . The Lankans were left tottering at 13-3 after Pat Cummins scalped Bhanuka Rajapaksa. Kusal Perera and Oshada Fernando stitched a brief partnership but Aussies struck again with Starc castling Perera with a peach of a delivery. The Australians were relentless and kept picking wickets in regular to leave Sri Lanka in dire straits.Leg spinner Adam Zampa polished off the Lankan tail by dismissing Lakshan Sandakan and Kasun Rajitha. Sri Lanka ended their 20 overs by posting 99/9 on the board Adam Zampa was the pick of the Australian bowlers, accounting for three Sri Lankan wickets. Seamer Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins picked up two wickets each.
