Ambati Rayudu suspended from bowling in international cricket

Rayudu, however, is cleared to bowl in domestic competitions and in tournaments like IPL organized by BCCI.

Amabati Rayudu was on Monday suspected by ICC from bowling in international cricket after the Indian middle-order batsman failed to undergo a bowling action test within the stipulated timeframe.

Rayudu was supposed to take a bowling action test within 14 days after being reported with a suspect action on January 13 during the first ODI against Australia at Sydney. But as it turned out Rayudu failed to meet the deadline and was therefore suspended by ICC.

“The player elected not to submit to a test of his bowling action within the stipulated period of 14 days of being reported for a suspect action, and therefore he has been suspended with immediate effect in accordance with clause 4.2 of the ICC regulations,” said ICC in an official statement.

Rayudu, however, is cleared to bowl in domestic competitions and in tournaments like IPL organized by BCCI.

Rayudu, currently with the Indian side in New Zealand, had bowled only 2 overs in Sydney.
