United States of America batter Aaron James helped his team win the first game of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on June 1 (June 2 IST) with his compelling performance of 94* runs in just 40 balls against Canada. USA won the tournament opener by seven wickets in Dallas, Texas. Interestingly, an 11-year-old tweet by Aaron Jones from 2013 about Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli has gone viral on social media following Jones' heroics in Dallas.

Following Jones' blistering knock in the USA vs Canada T20 World Cup 2024 match, his old tweets about Virat Kohli have gone viral on social media. In one tweet, Jones mentioned that he was watching Kohli's batting videos, and in another, he referred to the Indian batter as a ‘champion’.

Aaron Jones, who is from Queens in New York has proved to be one of the USA's top run-scorers in recent times. And he showcased his talent on the biggest stage by playing an unbeaten, match-winning knock against Canada.

Batting first, Canada posted 194/5 in their 20 overs. While it seemed like a challenging total to chase at the halfway stage, the USA made a mockery of Canada's bowling attack, reaching the target in just 17.4 overs. Jones remained unbeaten on 94, while Andries Gous contributed with a 46-ball 65. Jones hit four boundaries and 10 towering sixes, scoring at an impressive strike rate of 235. He rightfully was awarded the Player of the Match award for his heroics.
