Parshuram Jayanti 2025 — Know The Mystery Behind Lord Parshuram's Axe

Lord Parashuram's legendary axe remains a topic of discussion every year. Did you know his divine axe is believed to still exist on Earth? Discover the truth behind this ancient mystery.

Parashuram Jayanti 2025: In Hindu belief, there are eight Chiranjeevi (immortal) beings who are said to still be alive in the current era of Kali Yuga. Among them is Lord Parashuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Every year, Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Parashuram.

According to mythology, Parashuram performed intense penance to please Lord Shiva, who in return gifted him a divine axe (known as "Parshu"). With this mighty weapon, Parashuram mastered various forms of warfare. It is believed that this axe still exists on Earth.

Location Of Parashuram’s Axe:

Approximately 150 kilometers from Ranchi, in the Gumla district of Jharkhand, lies a hill where the sacred Tanginath Dham is situated. It is claimed that Lord Parashuram himself embedded his axe into the ground here. The site has since been revered, with the axe enshrined within a temple complex at Tanginath Dham.

The Mystery Behind The Axe:

The axe rests under the open sky and, astonishingly, has never shown signs of rust, despite being exposed to the elements for thousands of years. Many have tried to remove or uproot the axe, but all efforts have failed. How it has remained intact and uncorroded for so long continues to be a fascinating mystery.

How Did The Axe Come To Be At Tanginath Dham?

According to legend, after Lord Rama broke Lord Shiva’s bow during Sita’s swayamvara, Parashuram was enraged and spoke harsh words in his anger. Upon realizing his mistake, he felt immense remorse. To atone for his actions, he retreated deep into a dense forest and meditated atop a mountain, where he eventually embedded his divine axe into the ground. It is believed that Tanginath Dham is that very place.

The Divine Gift From Lord Shiva:

It is said that Lord Shiva bestowed several celestial weapons upon Parashuram, including the indestructible axe, or "Parshu." Parashuram used this divine weapon to rid the Earth of unrighteous Kshatriya kings 36 times, restoring balance and dharma.
