Worshipping Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity, and Lord Vishnu, the protector of the universe, during this month is believed to wash away sins from past lifetimes. Particularly, observing the rituals on Dev Uthani Ekadashi, which falls in Kartik month, yields special blessings.

This auspicious day is also referred to as Devutthana Ekadashi and Prabodhini Ekadashi. On this day, Lord Vishnu awakens from his Ksheer Nidra (cosmic sleep), signaling the commencement of auspicious activities. This year, Dev Uthani Ekadashi will be celebrated on November 12, 2024.

The fast for Dev Uthani Ekadashi is observed for 24 hours. The Vrat Paran will take place on the Dwadashi Tithi (twelfth day) of Kartik month, on November 13, 2024, between 6:42 AM and 8:51 AM.

The rituals and auspicious activities that were paused during Devshayani Ekadashi resume with Dev Uthani Ekadashi. Worshipping Lord Vishnu on this day invites his special grace upon families, while Goddess Lakshmi is believed to bless households with continuous wealth, prosperity, and abundance.

During the Chaturmas, the festival of Diwali is celebrated, where only Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped in the absence of Lord Vishnu.
