Avoid Donating These 3 Things On Ganga Dussehra To Prevent Bad Luck

Ganga Dussehra is on June 5, 2025. Donation holds great significance on this day and is believed to bring tenfold benefits, but certain things should never be donated.

Ganga Dussehra 2025: The festival of Ganga Dussehra is considered one of the most auspicious occasions for worshipping Maa Ganga and performing rituals like holy bathing and charity. This year, Ganga Dussehra falls on June 5, 2025.

It is believed that whatever you donate on this day should be in multiples of ten, as it brings tenfold spiritual merit. However, be very mindful while choosing these ten items—donating the wrong things may bring misfortune instead of blessings. Know which items should never be donated on this sacred day, or you may end up inviting sin instead of virtue.

What Not To Donate On Ganga Dussehra

  • Impure Items – Avoid donating impure or damaged items on Ganga Dussehra. Do not donate old, broken items, stale food, knives, scissors, or any sharp objects. Such offerings are believed to invite misfortune, displease Goddess Lakshmi, and increase the influence of Rahu. Even when feeding animals or birds, always offer fresh food.
  • Clothing – Do not donate black clothes on this day. Black is considered a symbol of negativity. Donating black garments may lead to misunderstandings in relationships and harm one's reputation.
  • Grains Since Ganga Dussehra in 2025 falls on a Thursday, avoid donating rice or black lentils. It is believed that doing so weakens the planet Jupiter (Brihaspati), which may lead to financial troubles and difficulties in marriage.
