- The Russia Ukraine war completed 100 days and yet the crisis continues. Over the course of the last three months, according to Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Russian forces have seized 20 per cent of Ukraine’s territory. Some of the major battles that were the highlight of the conflict include the Battle over Snake island, the conflict at the Antonov airport – where one of the world’s largest flying aircraft—the Antonov An-225 Mriya—was attacked by Russia’s elite airborne VDV on February 24, the capture of the capital city of Kyiev, siezing of the port city of Mariyopol and the siege of the azovstal steel plant. Till date according to the UNHRC, over a 100 million people have been forced to flee the conflict ridden nation. President Vladimir Putin is now focusing on a significant military victory in the majority of Russian-speaking eastern Ukraine.
- Shanghai imposed a city-wide lockdown on its 25 million residents on April 1 to combat the spread of COVID-19, exacting harsh measures that caused widespread public anger over issues such as crowded quarantine centres, difficulties in accessing food and loss of income. After two whole months, on 1st of june, the authorities lifted the city's long lockdown and allowed private cars including taxis back on to the roads and people to freely move in and out of low-risk housing compounds.
- The problem of Gun violence in USA seems to be getting worse by the day. A week after the horrifying Texas school shooting incident and a gunman killed at least four people on Wednesday at a hospital campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma and as if that was not terrifying enough, Three people, including the shooter, were reportedly killed in a mass shooting at Cornerstone Church in the midwestern US state of Iowa. These incidents of mass shooting have become very common in the recent past and is leading to killing of innocent people.
- Speaking from the White House, President Biden asked “how much more carnage are we willing to accept?” after three back-to-back shootings in the last two weeks left 35 dead. He urged Congress to ban assault weapons, implement tougher background checks and raise the minimum age of purchase from 18 to 21. He also called the Republican opposition to the measures “unconscionable.”
- Queen Elizabeth and the Royal family is all set to celebrate the platinum jubilee of the queen. They started the celebrations on Thursday and for the occasion the royal family wore blue for Trooping the Colour parade. The celebration will be continue over the weekend.
- The theme of the 8th International Yoga Day 2022 has been chosen as 'Yoga for Humanity'. The theme was chosen by Ministry of Ayush after much deliberation and consultation. The theme perfectly portrays how during the peak of COVID-19 pandemic, yoga served the humanity in reducing suffering.
- Delhi Health Minister Satyender Jain has been sent to Enforcement Directorate custody till June 9th in a money laundering case. He was arrested by ED in a case connected to hawala transactions related to a Kolkata-based company on May 30, 2022.
- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on June 1 summoned the Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over the National Herald Case. The case was closed by the investigating agency in 2015. The move by ED was followed by the questioning of senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress treasurer Prawan Bansal in April 2022.
- Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday, 3rd june reported that she has tested positive for COVID-19, a day after mother and party chief Sonia Gandhi shared the same.
- The Kerala High Court reunited lesbian pair Adhila Nazrin, 22, and Fathima Noora, 23, through a landmark verdict on Tuesday and allowed them to live together. Adhila had filed a habeas corpus petition alleging that Fathima’s parents had abducted her on May 24 and forced her into “conversion therapy”.
- The Defence Ministry on Tuesday signed a contract with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) for the supply of ASTRA MK-I Beyond Visual Range (BVR) Air to Air Missile (AAM) and associated equipment for the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy at a cost of Rs 2,971 crore under Buy (Indian-IDDM) category. According to an official statement issued by the ministry, the technology to manufacture missiles of this class indigenously was not available till now.

- IPL concluded after a season that kept the audience at the edge of their seats with season debutants Gujarat Titans becoming the champions and taking home the trophy after a pretty consistant run. Jos Buttler won massively in IPL Awards 2022 after he took home the honours, including the powerplay of the season, game-changer of the season, super striker of the season, and orange cap among others. The Purple cap went to Yuzvendra Chahal. Emerging Player of the season went to Umran Malik while the Perfect Catch of the Season went to Evin Lewis for the catch that ended Kolkata Knight Riders’ Campaign in IPL 2022.
- The Boston Celtics have stolen home field advantage from the Golden State Warriors after pulling off a 12-point comeback in the fourth quarter of Game 1 of the NBA Finals. For Steve Kerr’s Warriors, this is their sixth Finals appearance in eight seasons and this dynasty is looking for its fourth Larry O’Brien trophy, a feat that could cement the team amongst the greatest teams of all-time.
- 18-year-old American tennis player Coco Gauff stormed into her maiden Grand Slam final after defeating Italy's Martina Trevisan in the women's singles semi-final at Roland Garros in the French Open tournament on Thursday.
- Rafael Nadal hopes to celebrate his 36th birthday by reaching a 14th French Open final. Rafael Nadal hopes to celebrate his 36th birthday on Friday by reaching a 14th French Open final which by his own admission could be the last of his record-breaking career in Paris. Nadal, the 13-time champion, faces Germany's Alexander Zverev but is clear his chronic, long-term foot injury has put him on borrowed time.

- Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known as Sidhu Moose Wala, was shot dead on Sunday - just a day after his security cover was scaled down - by unidentified gunmen in Punjab's Mansa district. His body had 19 bullet injury injuries and he probably died within 15 minutes of being shot, according to his autopsy report. The bullets had hit his kidneys, liver, lungs and spine.
- This week was a tough one for the Indian music industry, after losing Sdhu moose wala, we also lost beloved Singer KK, who reportedly fell ill while performing at Nazrul Mancha, Kolkata, for Gurudas College's fest on May 31. He returned to his hotel collapsed after which he was rushed to Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) at around 10:30 pm, where he was declared dead.
- Johnny Depp won his defamations case against ex-wife Amber Heard on Tuesday, 31st of May. Depp had sued Heard over her 2018 article in The Washington Post, for implying that he was an abuser and sought $50 million in damages. Heard countersued her ex-husband for $100 million over statements made by Depp's lawyer Adam Walkman. The jury found Amber Heard had defamed Depp in three separate statements and that Depp had defamed her with one with his attorney's remark.The jury awarded Depp significantly more damages than Heard, making it a victory for the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor. It awarded $15 million to Depp and $2 million to Heard.
- Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to stream on Disney+ Hotstar from June 22. The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams and was released theatrically last month.
- Varun Sood, who is set to make his Bollywood debut with JugJugg Jeeyo, has joined DCA Talent. Karan Johar’s talent company DCA has been on a signing spree. After getting Shanaya Kapoor, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Nushrratt Bharuccha among others, it has now gotten youth star Varun Sood on-board.
- Good news for all marvel fans, Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth’s much-awaited superhero movie Thor: Love and Thunder will make its debut in Indian theatres a day early that is on July 7. Marvel India shared the news on Friday on its social media handle, announcing that the film will be released in the country on July 7, instead of July 8.
