Indian cricket team's star Test batsman Ajinkya Rahane celebrated his 33rd birthday today i.e. on June 6, 2021. Rahane, who made his international debut for India ten years ago, is an important member of the Indian Test team. The Mumbai-born has a tremendous batting record in Test and First class cricket. Ajinkya Rahane made his ODI and T20 debut in the year 2011.  After the retirement of veterans like Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman, he got a chance to make his Test debut in the year 2013. Rahane has scored 4583 runs in 73 test matches at an average of 41.28 and has scored 12 centuries in Test career. Pic Courtesy: AFP

Ajinkya Rahane has been more successful on more foreign pitches than India. Rahane's Test average in India is 36, while on foreign pitches he scores runs at an average of 44. Interestingly, Rahane has scored eight out of 12 centuries on foreign soil. Rahane plays more smoothly on pitches which have extra bounce and swing. Pic Courtesy: AFP

At one point in his career, Rahane was called the successor of legendary Rahul Dravid but in the last few years, his performance has declined significantly.  Rahane has scored only four centuries in the last 41 Test matches. Rahane has scored 2962 runs in 90 ODIs and 375 runs in 20 T20 matches for India.  In the World Cup 2019, Rahane played an innings of 79 runs against South Africa.  Thanks to Rahane's innings, India was successful in defeating Africa in the World Cup for the first time.Pic Courtesy: AFP
