Sania Mirza goes gaga over husband Shoaib Malik's world record

Interestingly, Malik has already announced his retirement from ODI cricket saying that the 2019 World Cup in England will be his last. However, he will continue to play T20 cricket.

Malik’s achievement pleased wife and Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza as she quoted ICC’s tweet to express her happiness.

Malik, however, had a lot more in store. The all-rounder on Monday, became the only male cricketer to appear in 100 T20 internationals when Pakistan took on Australia.

The match did not go Pakistan’s way as they were pummelled by Australia to a crushing 9-wicket victory but Malik’s record remained one of the talking points.

Shoaib Malik is going through one of the highest points of his career as an international cricketer.

The former Pakistan captain may not have scored tons of runs in the ongoing tri-nation series in Zimbabwe but have made news right from the onset.

During the opening match of the tri-series against Zimbabwe, Malik with his unbeaten knock of 37 became only the third batsman in the world to get to 2000 international runs in T20 cricket.

New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill are the only ones to hold the same record apart from Malik.
