Filmgoers had high expectations for the first month of the year. OTT platforms did not let them down as several highly awaited films and web series made their home screen premieres.

Here are the movies and web shows released in January on OTT platforms.

The Menu (Disney Hotstar): The movie centres on a young couple who dine at a posh destination restaurant on a far-off island where the celebrated chef has created a sumptuous tasting menu.

Trial by Fire (Netflix): The series is based on the horrifying 1997 Upahar Cinema case, where 59 people died from smoke inhalation after a screening of the movie Border.

The Last Of Us (Disney Hotstar): After the majority of the world's population has been killed by an infectious epidemic, Joel finds himself travelling through the US with a girl who could just hold the key to reviving humanity.

Mission Majnu (Netflix): An Indian spy working underground in the 1970s undertakes a dangerous operation to reveal a clandestine nuclear weapons development deep inside Pakistan.

Phone Bhoot (Amazon Prime Video): A ghost approaches two inept ghostbusters with a business proposition. The creepy ghost discloses her strategy, though, and their plans start to fall apart.

The Pale Blue Eyes (Netflix): A 2022 American mystery-thriller film by Scott Cooper, The Pale Blue Eye is an adaptation of Louis Bayard's 2003 book of the same name.

An Action Hero (Netflix): A movie star is accused of murder and flees the nation while being chased by a vindictive politician, turning his own life into an oddball action thriller.

Women At War (Netflix): Halla, an Icelandic environmental activist of 50 years old, fights against the country's little aluminium sector. Her deeds become more audacious, and her life transforms in an instant.

Taaza Khabar (Disney Hotstar): The protagonist of Taaza Khabar is Vasant "Vasya" Gawade, a sanitation worker who discovers mystical powers and gives everyone around him curls.
