Donald Trump and Joe Biden are projected to win most of the states that went for Super Tuesday cementing their positions further as contenders in the ultimate showdown.

The presidential polls are intensifying in the US to choose the ultimate two contenders for the final race which is expected to take place in the later part of the year. In the build-up to the same, 16 states and one US territory observed the conventional Super Tuesday which is expected to further cement the foothold for Donald Trump and Joe Biden as the Republican and the Democrat candidate.

As per the projections, Trump is expected to sweep the primary in Virginia, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, comfortably having the edge over Nikki Haley reported Reuters.

US President Joe Biden was also projected to sail through Iowa, North Carolina, Virginia, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, as per Edison Research.

What Is Super Tuesday

Super Tuesday marks the hosting of primary and caucuses by the largest number of states in the country. Voters from 15 states cast their ballots in the Republican primary on Tuesday which include: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia.

Why Super Tuesday Is Important

The Super Tuesday serves as barometer in the prequel to the US Presidential polls providing a clear indication of which candidate will win their parties' presidential nominations.

In 2020, Biden put an end to Bernie Sanders's presidential race aspirations after he won 10 Super Tuesday states.

In 2016, Trump had won eight of the Super Tuesday states. This year also, he has won nearly every presidential nomination race, losing just one in the DC Republican primary on Sunday.
