US Presidential Polls: Biden To Hold His First Mega Rally Today With Show Of Support From Unions

US President Joe Biden will appear alongside union members in his first major political rally at the Philadelphia Convention Center to emphasise that his economic agenda is helping the middle class.

US President Joe Biden will on Saturday hold his first major political rally at the Philadelphia Convention Center since he formalised his reelection campaign for the 2024 US Presidential Election. He will appear alongside union members to emphasise that his economic agenda is helping the middle class. Philadelphia and the state of Pennsylvania have long been central to Biden’s political efforts, as he headquartered his 2020 campaign in the city and the state was one of a handful that flipped back to Democrats four years after voting for Donald Trump in 2016.

According to the Associate Press, Biden's campaign said that the incumbent President will “lay out the core principles of his economic message” in his remarks. He also plans to talk about how a sweeping climate, tax, and health care package he signed into law last year has reduced the cost of prescription drugs and lowered insurance premiums. His administration will focus on his achievements in his first two years as the centerpiece argument for his reelection.

Ahead of the Philadelphia event, several of America’s most powerful unions — including the AFL-CIO, the American Federation of Teachers, and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees — have officially endorsed Biden’s campaign.

As per AP's report, this is a first-of-its-kind joint endorsement among the unions with the backdrop of hundreds of workers all part of a meticulously choreographed effort to show the support of labor behind what US President Biden who calls himself the most pro-union president in the country's history.

“Every major labor union in the country is endorsing me”, Biden told reporters on Saturday ahead of a fundraiser in Connecticut on Friday evening, as quoted by the report. “I’m saying that my philosophy about building from the middle out and the bottom up is working,” he added.

The campaign event also comes amid a positive development on the economic front for Biden as inflation is cooling down, continuing a steady decline in consumer prices primarily driven by lower gas prices, a smaller rise in grocery costs than in previous months, and less expensive furniture, airfares, and appliances, AP reported.

So far, Biden’s primary campaign activity has been fundraising. The democratic party leader on Friday raised cash at a private home in Greenwich, Connecticut, and will head to fundraisers in California, Maryland, Illinois, and New York ahead of the second quarter fundraising deadline on June 30.
