Students Advised To Leave Ukraine Even If Universities Are Not Going Online: Indian Embassy's New Advisory

The new advisory said that students are advised, “in the interest of their safety, to leave Ukraine temporarily, rather than wait for an official confirmation from the Universities.”

New Delhi: Amid the escalating Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine has advised students living there to exit the country "temporarily" rather than waiting for confirmation of online classes from universities. 

The new advisory issued by the Indian embassy said that students are advised, “in the interest of their safety, to leave Ukraine temporarily, rather than wait for an official confirmation from the Universities.”

It also said that they are getting regular calls asking about online classes by Medical Universities, and the embassy is engaged with respective authorities for streamlining the education process for Indian students.

Meanwhile, in a statement at the UN Security Council, India asserted that the safety of its citizens is the priority.

The civil aviation ministry of India has also lifted the restrictions on the number of flights between India and Ukraine decided under the air bubble agreement. This morning, an Air India flight left for Kyiv that will return to Delhi tonight.

Two more flights will fly to and from Ukraine on February 24 and 26.

Meanwhile, four more flights have been announced to operate to and fro Ukraine to get Indian nationals back before any further escalation. These flights will operate on February 25, 27 and March 6, 2022.

The Indian embassy in Ukraine had issued an advisory on February 15 asking Indian nationals to leave the country temporarily if their stay was non essential. The advisory also stated that the Indian nationals should inform the embassy about their stay, so they can reach them if needed.
